HURST HORTICULTURAL & COTTAGE GARDEN SOCIETY ANNUAL SHOW

Saturday 18th August 2007
This year, the Horticultural Society Annual Show will return to Hurst Village Hall and Grounds with the Dog Show held in the adjacent Willowmead Field.

Horticultural Classes remain much the same, whilst the Cooking, Craft, Children's and Photographic Classes offer new challenges. This year we have added another dimension to the Trug Competition by including an item of Cookery, Craft or Photography.

The Show opens to the public at 1.30pm, but those wishing to enter must stage exhibits by 10.30am. Entry costs £1 for adults, 50p for seniors and children.

The Companion Dog Show starts at 12 noon with entries on the field from 11.30am. The Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre, Hurst will benefit from the afternoon's Dog Show.

During the afternoon the Waltham St Lawrence Silver Band will entertain. New for this year there will be a Puppet Show and Children's Craft Activity Area, Plant Raffle and Craft Stalls. Cream Teas and Refreshments will be served.

Schedules containing all the necessary information will be available from the end of June in the village shops, some local garden centres or by contacting Terry Bovis, 0118 979 xxxx or Terry Bunyard, 0118 934 xxxx

TICKETS FOR CHRISTMAS ANNUAL DINNER DANCE

Saturday, 1st December 2007

Last year there was some confusion over the purchasing of tickets.

Paid-up members of the Hurst Village Society have priority over other Hurst residents, with a limit of six tickets per person. Only the person or family buying the tickets needs to be a member, e.g. in a party of six, it could be two members and four non-members. Purchases are on a "first come first served" basis, with any tickets unsold available to non-HVS members.

Please remember that HVS Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December in any calendar year. Annual membership costs £5 per family.

What's on - by e-mail

Duncan Kendall also publishes a monthly e-mail, which lists events and activities in and around Hurst. You can find out more about the list at www.WoodedHill.uk.
