HVS - What's it all About?

The HVS is your society with a committee for which anyone from the village can stand. All members of the committee are voted in by fellow residents at the Village Society AGM. The committee aims to preserve the nature and character of the village by many means not least of which would be to oppose any planning application that may have a detrimental effect on the village. To do this we obviously need money particularly if we were to find ourselves up against one of the larger corporate institutions.

Becoming a member

We raise money at various events during the year but one of our major sources of income is through membership of the HVS. If you are already a member please remember to renew your subscription and if you are not yet a member please consider joining. The cost is just £5.00 per household per year. Payment can be made by completing the Membership Form or sending a cheque made payable to the Hurst Village Society to the treasurer Timothy Sayill at Pikes Farm House, Forest Road, Hurst RG4O 5QR.

What if I'm not worried about planning?

This year we are offering a small incentive to join.

And the incentive is...

As you probably know the Annual Dance is always over subscribed so we will be giving an advanced booking opportunity to all members of the society. This year the dance will take place on 23 October

Do you want something taken up by the HVS committee?

If you have a concern that you would like the Village Society to take up please contact one of the committee members. We cannot guarantee we will be able to help in all cases but we do promise to air your views. Dates of meetings for the rest of 1999 are:
16 June, 4 August, 15 September, 27 October, 8 December.
