Our pre-school group provides places for all 3-5 year olds in Hurst and the surrounding area. We are open five mornings (9 - 11.30am) and four afternoons (12.30 - 3pm) a week and we meet in the Small Village Hall.
We have very high standards and aim to send all our children off to primary school as happy, well-balanced individuals who enjoy learning and face challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
Our curriculum follows the Early Learning Goals set out by the Department of Education and we have already passed two Ofsted inspections with flying colours. We offer "freeplay" sessions for 3-5 year olds where the emphasis is on learning through play.
In addition we have three sessions a week of "4+" where our four year olds benefit from being in a more structured adult-led group which encourages pre-reading and writing skills, plus concentration and perseverance. Each term has a theme and there will be related trips out and special visitors - a recent favourite being the fire brigade!

We have a wide variety of pre-school teaching aids and equipment including an up to date CD ROM computer and indoor and outdoor play equipment. The high ratio of adults to children is something we are especially proud of. Each child has a key worker which means our professional staff are dedicated to the needs and development of each child.
Future plans include a "Lunch Club" that would enable children to attend pre-school from 9am to 3pm. We are hopeful this will start after Easter 2002. For further information or to join our waiting list, please call Louise Coe our Registration Officer on 934 xxxx, or visit our web site.
If you have child care qualifications and would be interested in helping at some of our sessions on a voluntary basis we would be delighted to hear from you, especially if you could help at late notice to cover for emergency absence of our regular staff. Please call Louise Kendall on 934 xxxx or e-mail.
