Hurst Panto A Biennial Tradition?
Jo Penney - aka Cinderella's Fairy Godmother - and one of the driving forces behind Hurst's first and hugely successfully pantomime this year, writes that plans for the next panto will be drawn up in 2004 for performance in January 2005.
At the post-show meeting it was decided that it would be difficult to maintain, annually, the high standard that Cinderella achieved. The main reason is that preparing for such a show is immensely time-consuming.
Hopefully there will be more budding Hurst Thespians eager to tread the boards next time around thus eliminating the need for any "arm twisting". Even people who were rather reluctant to appear in Cinderella thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are keen to take part next time!
Everyone involved had a great time and many new friendships were made. Cinderella certainly was a successful community project and maybe a biennial pantomime is set to become a Hurst tradition?
