Debbie Coleman and her team of Youth Workers continue to visit Hurst each Tuesday evening bringing the outdoor Mobile Youth Facility when it is available.

Debbie, with the support of the Parish Council, is trying to set up a Friday evening Youth Club. Any parents interested in helping please contact: Jan Martin on 0118 934 xxxx or Debbie Coleman on 07xxx xxxxxx.

A PCSO for Hurst

Hurst welcomes its first Police Community Support Officer Jackie Daniels, who joined the Twyford team on 26th September 2005. Her area will be Sonning, Charvil and Hurst and she can be contacted on 0118 953 xxxx which is the new number for Twyford Police Station.

PCSO's are civilian members of staff who are employed, managed and tasked by the police and are a welcome addition to the police family. They will provide reassurance and visibility in areas that need it the most and will have certain powers, which will enable them to enforce the law and increase Community Safety with a uniformed presence. They will complement the work of police officers by focusing predominantly on lower-level crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.

As well as providing a highly visible police presence in public areas PCSOs also have the following powers to:

  • demand the name and address of people acting in an anti-social manner
  • disperse groups of youths acting in an anti-social manner
  • seize alcohol from people in designated no drinking areas
  • seize alcohol and tobacco from under-aged youths
  • enter property to save life and limb or prevent serious damage
  • remove abandoned vehicles
  • seize vehicles ('mini-motos' etc) used to cause alarm, harassment or distress

She very much looks forward to meeting you all while out and about on her beat, so when you see her please stop and have a chat. She is here for you, and any concerns you have regarding any of the above, or if you are worried about anti-social behaviour in your area please do contact her.

She is based at Twyford Police Station, along with PC Stuart Loudwell and PC Glyn Wildey. Twyford Police Station has been up and running for business since Monday 31st October; it is be manned by volunteers on Mondays 2pm - 6pm and Saturdays 10am - 2pm. They hope to add more days in the near future.
