Hurst on the Internet

The Village Society has made its presence known on the Internet with a new web site. The site, which can be found at http://www.hvs.org.uk contains information about the Society and its activities, contact details for the committee and an on-line archive of recent newsletters.

The Parish Council is also sponsoring a web site, at http://www.hurst-village.org.uk This site is for the use and benefit of Hurst residents and visitors to the area. The aim of the site is to provide a complete database of information about the activities and facilities within the Parish. The success of the site relies on information being provided by you, the residents of Hurst.

If you run a Club or Organisation in the Village and would like your details on a web page, have a date for the diary or any other information which may be a useful addition to the web site, then please contact Brian Whitehead on 978 xxxx. Brian is also creating an on-line picture gallery of interesting buildings and landmarks in the Village. If you have any photographs that you think would be of interest, then Brian would like to hear from you.

Library Update

As regular readers of this Newsletter will know, the Village Society was very generously bequeathed a collection of books and £2000 by the late Denis Eastwood to establish a Village Library.

Work on cataloguing the books, which cover a wide variety of subject areas, including the Classics, Biographies, History and Wildlife, is now underway. In the next issue of the Newsletter we will publish a full list of titles together with details of how the Library will operate in the autumn.
