Register of Skills and Services
Have you registered your skills and services?
The Village Society is in the process of updating the Skills Register for publication later this year,
and we would like to have the correct information, writes Duncan Kendall.
This invaluable leaflet provides details of skills and services made available by people living within Hurst,
and is delivered free of charge to all households in the village.
A large range of skills is covered by the register;
from French Polishing to Floristry; Piano Lessons to Plumbing.
If you need someone with a skill, then the Skills Register should be your first port of call.
If you have a skill or service to offer, then please let us know.
All we need is your name, address, and contact details
(telephone number, e-mail address, and/or web site)
and a brief (20 words or less) description of your skill or service.
Entries in the register are free to members of the Society;
non-members can be included for a fee of five pounds
(the same as a year's membership, so why not join anyway?).
From this year, the Skills Register will also be available on-line at the Society’s web site,
http://www.hvs.org.uk
To be included please contact Duncan Kendall on 934 xxxx or any committee member.
If you were listed in the last edition of the Skills Register (published in 1998)
and are a paid-up member of the Village Society, then you will automatically be included in the next issue.
However, if you would like to amend your details, or include an e-mail or web address for the on-line version,
please contact Duncan Kendall on 934 xxxx, or by e-mail to
skills@hvs.org.uk.

Other News in Brief
The planning enquiry into the proposed Organic Farm in Lodge Road
took place on 1 June.
It was good to see so many local residents at the hearing and the site visit.
It is always difficult to predict the Inspector’s decision,
but the case against the proposal was a good one and well-supported by the agricultural advisers
who gave expert evidence on behalf of Wokingham District Council.
Those thinking of returning to work or a career change
can contact Lynn Bennett-Smith at Wokingham Careers Centre 0118 978 xxxx.
If you are unemployed this service is free.
People with a job will be charged for psychometric testing.
