Register For Broadband To Cut Internet Costs
If people are telecommuting, working from home, or using the Internet to keep in touch with friends and family - and many households in Hurst are using the Internet on a daily basis - it's costing more than it should because the Twyford telephone exchange has not yet been converted to ADSL - broadband technology.
BT has said that exchanges will only be converted if they are satisfied there is sufficient demand for the service - and a threshold of 200 people registering an interest has been set for Twyford.
The more people who register on the BT website to indicate that they would like to use broadband the sooner we will be able to use this cost-saving high speed data link. By Thursday 12 September a total of 129 people had registered, so Twyford could be in line for conversion soon.
The benefits of ADSL mean much faster Internet access for everyone, it is always on, so there is no need to dial up each time, and no extra costs for using it for hours to do research or send complex files.
People can register - without obligation - by visiting www.bt.com/btbroadband/register and following the instruction windows.
